Damage and defecation. The construction manager for a Spingfield Marriott hotel that is being built in the 7900 block of East Peakview Avenue, Greenwod Village, called police Aug. 7 because, for the second time, someone broke into the site overnight and started a fire on the concrete floor. The unknown suspect also defecated on the ground. The rest of the floors in the building are wood, and the manager said further damage like this would compromise the structure. He agreed to give officers a key to the site to increase nightly patrols.

No friend of mine. A patrolling police officer ran the license plate of a car that was parked across two parking spots at Target, 6767 S. Clinton St., Englewood, July 30. It came back stolen. A suspect sitting inside the car said that it belonged to his friend, and that he had paid his friend $300 to borrow it. The officer called the person who reported the car stolen and confirmed that the suspect took it without permission. The victim further stated that the two were not friends.

Drugged driving. A woman with a suspended driver’s license was caught driving in the 9300 block of East Arapahoe Road, Greenwood Village, July 29. Officers shined a light in the car and found a half-burned marijuana joint in the center console. Then they discovered little baggies of cocaine and methamphetamine in her purse. She was arrested.

Ruined outing. A couple reported that someone broke out a window on their car while they were at Silo Park, 9300 E. Orchard Road, Greenwood Village, July 27. There are no suspects.
