Temple Grandin brought her signature zeal for efficiency and education to Skyline High School’s Vance Brand Auditorium in Longmont on Tuesday evening.

About 15 minutes before she was scheduled to take the stage in front of a packed auditorium of fans, Grandin instructed the Longmont Public Library staff on ways to make the book purchasing and book signing line move faster.

Grandin took issue with the fact that the books were priced at $22 and $18 in cash.

“No, that slows them down. You need it at $20 and $15 so they are easy bills,” she told them.

Grandin’s book signing, speech and question-and-answer session is by far the largest event the Longmont Public Library staff has put on. The free event was originally slated for a venue that would hold 250 people, but staff moved the talk to the auditorium, which seats 1,350 people.
