Denver man pleads guilty to two 2015 murders

A Denver man will spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to two 2015 murders.

Kenneth Banks, 22, pleaded guilty on Friday to the Nov. 20, 2015, shooting death of 20-year-old Joel Gomez-Chavez and to the Nov. 23, 2015, drive-by shooting death of D’Andre Mayfield, according to a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s Office.

The murders are believed to be gang-related, the DA’s office said.

Gomez-Chavez was in his bedroom in a house on the 3300 block of North Dahlia Street when .

Mayfield was near 47th Avenue and Peoria Street.

Banks was sentenced to two life sentences without parole, the District Attorney’s Office said.

Banks also faces six counts, including murder, in connection with and Grill in west Aurora. A in that shooting.
