Dodgers’ hitters punched the Rockies’ Friday night lights out at Coors Field, cranking out 12 hits, including three home runs in an 11-8 victory. And before the game, the Rockies announced that outfielder David Dahl has a broken bone in his right foot and will be out 6-8 weeks.
But it wasn’t all doom and gloom. Second baseman DJ LeMahieu came off the disabled list and batted 4-for-5, tying his career high for hits in a game. It was the 11th time LeMahieu has recorded four hits in a game.
“I took a lot of batting practice over the last week and I got a lot of at-bats, so I’d better be ready after all of that,” said LeMahieu, who bumped his average to .299.
LeMahieu said he’s encouraged with how the offense is starting to heat up.
“We had a lot of good at-bats up and down the lineup,” he said. “We just couldn’t get the win, but I know we are going to keep going and keep hitting. It’s fun to hop into a lineup that’s hot right now.”
Five takeaways from Friday’s game:
No. 1: The first inning continues to hurt the Rockies at home. They have allowed a run in the first inning in 13 of 25 their games at Coors Field, with multiple runs allowed eight times.
No. 2: Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen has now recorded 25 saves in 25 career opportunities against the Rockies. He got a four-out save Friday, even though he gave up a run, a walk and three hits.
No. 3: Nolan Arenado recorded the 160th home run of his career, and his 19th against the Dodgers, which is tied for fourth-most among active players.
No. 4: Carlos González extended his hitting streak to a season-high five games, during which he’s batting .500 (11-for-22).
No. 5: Chris Iannetta extended his on-base streak to 19 games and has now hit safely in a season-high four consecutive games.
