Prison inmate escapes from Adams County work crew

Offender had been convicted of an attempted escape before

Law enforcement is on the lookout for a 27-year-old who escaped from a work crew Wednesday afternoon in Adams County, officials said.

Cody Harris had been assigned to a work crew from the Colorado Correctional Center when he fled around 12:55 p.m. according to a news release by Adrienne Jacobson, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Corrections.

The convicted car thief is 6-feet-2-inches tall, weighs 215 pounds, has brown hair and a beard and blue eyes, the news release said.

In 2010, Harris was convicted of attempted escape and was sentenced to one year in prison, according Colorado court records.
