A 54-year-old motorcyclist, from the Denver area, riding off road Wednesday in Summit County with two friends died after he was found lying next to his motorcycle.

At 1:17 p.m. the Summit County Rescue Group (SCRG) was notified about an unresponsive motorcyclist who was down on the North Fork of the Swan jeep trail, according to a rescue group news release.

The motorcyclist’s two companions, one riding an ATV and the other an off-road motorcycle, called 911 for help. The pair, who were riding several seconds behind the victim, found him and performed CPR for about 30 minutes while awaiting aid.

At about 2:20 p.m., Flight for Life personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. Members of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, Summit County Fire and EMS, and Summit County Advocates also responded.

The body was taken off the trail by an ATV and covered litter, and then taken to the Summit County Coroner’s Office. He was not identified Wednesday.
