Trail Ridge Road is expected to remain closed through the weekend after 6 inches of snow fell Thursday on higher elevations of Rocky Mountain National Park.

The road closed Wednesday as park officials braced for the quick storm, which brought the season’s first snow and freezing temperatures to much of Colorado.

While Denver temperatures are expected to be in the mid- to upper 60s this weekend, daytime temperatures above 11,000 feet will be in the mid-20s with strong winds likely.

On Friday afternoon, park officials anticipated that the closure points on Trail Ridge Road will be Rainbow Curve on the east side and Milner Pass on the west side.

Old Fall River Road is closed to motor vehicles for the season. All other roads in the park are open.
