Denver weather: Three-day streak in the 100s ends as thunderstorms, hail return

Temperatures will drop into the 90s Friday and will be even cooler for the next few days

Denver’s three-day stint in the triple digits is about to end Friday. A slight cool front will dip temperatures and bring some scattered afternoon storms.

The past three days were rare ones, as itap a bit uncommon that the Mile High City reaches the century mark. The three straight record-high daily temperatures have already tied 2021 for the seventh most 100 degree-days in city history. A high of 105 is the highest temperature ever recorded in Denver, which last happened June 28, 2018. We hit 101 Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Boulder, Denver will hit 94 degrees Friday under mostly sunny skies. There’s a 20% chance of storms between 4 p.m. and midnight as isolated showers are expected to develop over the high country, with some making their way onto the plains. Brief heavy rain, winds and hail are possible in these storms. The mercury will drop to 63 degrees overnight.

On Juneteenth, there’s a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Saturday. The high will reach 92 degrees under partly sunny skies with a low of 63 degrees.

Sunday is forecasted to be 89 degrees with a 20% chance of storms developing after lunchtime; the low will dip to 56 degrees as another cool front works its way through the area.

Monday is the official start of summer, and the high is only projected to be 74 degrees.
