That Coors Field hangover is hitting the Rockies in historic proportions.
After losing to the Brewers in Milwaukee on Sunday, the Rockies have compiled a dismal 6-31 record through 37 games on the road — the worst in Major League Baseball. It’s four fewer wins than the next closest teams: the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have the worst overall record in the majors, and the Rangers.
Colorado is on pace for a 13-68 record away from Coors, breaking the MLB record for fewest road wins in a 162-game season. The current record is shared by the 1963 Mets and 2010 Pirates at 17-64.
As a team, the Rockies’ pitchers have combined for an MLB-worst 5.60 ERA away from home while their hitters are slashing .196/.270/.296 while scoring just 97 runs in 37 road games.
Overall, the Rockies are 31-47 and on pace to finish 64-98, which would tie their futility mark set in 2012.
Colorado returns home Monday to kick off a seven-game homestand, beginning with a three-game series against the Pirates. Coors Field has been far kinder to the Rockies, where they are 25-16 on the year.
