Cyclists ride along the road in Waterton Canyon on June 28, 2021 in Littleton. Waterton Canyon Trail is a 12.4 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Louviers. With the South Platte river running alongside the area is a popular place for hiking, biking, fishing and other outdoor activities. It is accessible year round and good for all skill levels as the trail is a graded road and relatively flat.

Denver reached 100 degrees for the fourth time this year as temperature records continue to fall in light of a warming climate.

Four days of triple-digit temps means 2021 is now tied for fifth on Denver’s all-time 100-degree-day list, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Denver still has a ways to go to reach the sweatiest mark of 13 days over 100 degrees in 2012.

Climate scientists anticipate more days with higher temperatures as climate change worsens.
