Update on April 6 at 12:31 p.m.: Loveland Ski Area to stay closed Wednesday due to wind-related power outages
Loveland Ski Area and Echo Mountain closed Tuesday, as high winds hindered operators’ ability to safely operate lifts.
A photo posted by Loveland on social media shows white-out conditions and winds gusts are predicted to continue throughout the day, according to both mountains’ announcements. However, the mountains expect to reopen Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Arapahoe Basin confirmed the ski area is open, but the Beavers, Pallavicini, and Montezuma lifts are on hold due to wind. The Lenawee lift is currently running at reduced speed and may close at some point due to wind, the spokesperson said.
Due to high winds, Loveland Ski Area will not open today, Tuesday, April 5.
Winds gusts are preventing us from safely operating our lifts, and they are expected to increase throughout the day. We apologize for any inconvenience and expect to resume operations tomorrow.
