On the mound: Right-hander German Marquez, making his second spring start as he returns from elbow woes that limited him to one game last season, pitched two scoreless innings, giving up two hits, striking out two and walking one. His fastball hit 97.5 mph. … Veteran right-hander Jake Bird, trying to win a spot in the crowded bullpen, pitched two scoreless innings, giving up no hits, walking two and striking out one. … Lefty Evan Justice earned the win, striking out two in his scoreless inning.

At the plate: Ryan McMahon boosted his average to .333 with a 2-for-3 day that included a double. … Infield prospect Kyle Karros hit a two-run double in Colorado’s five-run eighth inning.
