A pedestrian was hit and killed while crossing U.S. 85 in Brighton early Tuesday morning, temporarily shutting down the highway’s northbound lanes, police said.
to the fatal crash on U.S. 85 at East Bromley Lane at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the police department.
When they arrived, officers found a man lying on the ground with severe injuries, police said in the release. That man, a pedestrian who has not been publicly identified, died at the scene of the crash.
The pedestrian was crossing the highway when he was hit by a man driving north on U.S. 85, police said. He will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
“The driver pulled over and remained on scene,” Brighton officials stated in the release. “He was uninjured, cooperative, and showed no signs of impairment.”
The northbound highway was closed for several hours at Bromley Lane on Tuesday while law enforcement investigated the crash scene. All lanes of U.S. 85 had reopened by 7 a.m., .
