The man who fatally stabbed two people in 2022 and attacked a third was convicted Tuesday of murder and assault by a Denver jury, court records show.
Matthew Omara stabbed two women in the 10100 block of East Harvard Avenue just before 8 a.m. on Dec. 7, 2022. Taylor Trevino, 20, died from her injuries at the scene and the second victim, 56-year-old Christina Hardin, died at the hospital, according to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
Shortly after, police responded to reports of a man attacking workers in the 2500 block of South Dayton Way, just blocks away from the double stabbing. When officers arrived, they found Omara being held down by a group of construction workers.
Omara was arrested and later connected to the stabbings, police said.
The Denver jury convicted Omara on two counts of first-degree murder after deliberation and one count of second-degree assault, according to court records. He faces life in prison without parole when he is sentenced on July 24.
