A man died in a Colorado reservoir Thursday after his kayak flipped amid high winds.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife responded to the incident at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Eleven Mile Reservoir and pulled the unconscious man out of the water. Officers performed CPR on the man for more than an hour, but first responders declared him dead at 4:30 p.m., .

The man was wearing a life jacket but it did not fit him properly, according to CPW. It covered his face after he fell in the water.

The Park County coroner will release the identity of the man.
