Boulder County officials rescued a horse that was stuck in mud at a property in rural Boulder County southwest of Longmont on Thursday afternoon.

A Cooper’s Hawk hunts from the branch of a large pine tree on September 30, 2020 in Nederland. The crow-sized Cooper’s Hawk is a raptor of the woodlands, with short, rounded wings and a long tail. It has excellent adaptations for pursuing smaller birds through thick understory and seems to fly effortlessly through trees. Cooper’s Hawks are found in forests and woodland areas. Like so many other species, Cooper’s Hawks are harmed by habitat loss, which may limit suitable breeding habitat.
