Boulderites Eric Larsen and Ryan Waters completed a 53-day, unassisted and unsupported (no resupplies, and no help from snowmobiles, sled dogs or kites) trip to the North Pole on May 6. Waters, above, is the first American to complete the adventurer's grand slam — he's been to both poles (unsupported) and has reached all of the Seven Summits, the highest peak on each continent.
