He embodies the American dream: a half-black child raised by a white, single mom, whose smarts, hard work and drive took him to Columbia University and Harvard Law School, the U.S. Senate and the presumptive Democratic nomination. With audacity and hope, he has gotten closer to the presidency than anyone, ever, who is not a white male.
