A few photo albums were about all Linda could take with her before the home that Mesmer grew up in burned to the ground. The chicken coop, gone. The workshop, gone. The playhouse her father built, gone. And the home, now a jumble of unsorted house pieces. "At least they're safe," Mesmer said of her parents. "You can't replace them." Mesmer said she doesn't know whether her parents will rebuild.
