Silverton, San Juan County seek federal funds after Colorado mine spill

The opening to the Kohler Mine along Red Mountain Pass. Although bulkheaded, the mine is slowly leaking water that is making its way into the Animas River. San Juan County and the city of Silverton have a rich mining history with hundreds of mines in the county, including the Gold King Mine, which spilled wastewater into the Animas River.
