Swift & Co., the third-largest U.S. beef producer, said chief executive John Simons will resign.
The Greeley-based company said in a statement that Swift will have co-CEOs while the search for a replacement for Simons, 44, is conducted. They will be Dennis Henley, president of Swift’s North American Red Meat division, and chief financial officer Danny Herron.
“Largely because of John’s efforts, Swift today is a company in a very solid financial condition and with a skilled and successful management team,’ said John Muse, a Swift board member and chairman of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Inc., the majority owner of Swift.
Simons joined ConAgra Beef Co., the predecessor to Swift & Co., in May 1999.
