Plum TV, a New York television network specializing in serving resort destinations, has purchased Aspen’s TV-16 from the Aspen Skiing Co.
The purchase price was not disclosed.
The channel, which will be renamed Aspen Plum, is Plum TV’s fifth station.
The 24-hour network launched on Vail’s channel 16 in December and also has outlets in the Hamptons in New York; Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.; and Nantucket, Mass.
“This is where we specialize,” said Plum TV founder Tom Scott. “We want to be in the pre-eminent vacation destinations in America.”
Scott said he plans to retain the entire TV-16 staff, which has 17 part-time and full-time employees.
Aspen Skiing, which has owned and operated the channel since 1996, has signed a long-term licensing and marketing relationship with Plum TV.
“That means they can shoot live anywhere on our mountains,” Aspen Skiing spokeswoman Kristin Rust said. “It’s a great marketing vehicle for us.”
