Brad Jones, a quick, 5-foot-10 point guard at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, signed a letter of intent Tuesday to play for Wyoming.
Jones, who averaged 10.5 points and 6.5 assists last season, will have three seasons of eligibility. He chose Wyoming over Creighton, Arkansas-Fort Smith coach Jeremy Cox said.
The Cowboys also got a commitment from Parker Emerson, a 6-6 forward from Windsor.
He had scholarship offers from Northern Colorado, Portland and Fort Lewis but decided to walk on.
“It’s just a good place to be,” Emerson said. “It just seemed like a good fit for me, and the people around there were super-friendly about everything.”
Wyoming women’s basketball coach Joe Legerski announced the signing of an Oregon high school star who averaged a double-double her senior year.
Elisabeth Dissen, a 6-2 forward-center from Hillsboro’s Glencoe High School, is a two-time first-team all-state selection.
A three-year starter, Dissen averaged 14.2 points and 10.4 rebounds this past season.
Dissen, who also lettered in volleyball and track, chose Wyoming over several schools, including Montana State, San Diego State, San Jose State and Boise State.
“Elisabeth brings a strong block presence to our program,” Legerski said. “She plays well with her back to the basket. We have been looking to improve our inside game, and with the signing of Elisabeth, we have taken a step forward in that direction.”
