Getting your player ready...

A: If you are in an area that has bears, make noise while walking. You do not want to surprise a bear. The majority of confrontations can be prevented if you make a bear aware of your presence before you surprise it. If you confront a bear, stay calm and try to leave the area. Back away slowly while facing it. Avoid direct eye contact. Give the bear plenty of room to escape. Wild bears rarely attack people unless they are threatened or provoked. Do not run or make sudden movements. You cannot outrun a bear, and running will induce a prey response. Don’t climb trees. Try to stand your ground, on the ground. Speak softly. This may reassure the bear that you are no harm to it. Try not to show fear. Use extra caution if you encounter a female with cubs. Fight back if attacked. People have driven back bears with their hands, binoculars and any other object that can be used as a weapon.
