Colorado State officials remained undecided Monday on whether to hire Jen Warden as the women’s basketball coach.

Warden, the head coach at Boise State and a former Colorado assistant, is one of two candidates who interviewed for the position last week. The other candidate, Arizona State assistant Meg Sanders, withdrew over the weekend in a telephone call to CSU athletic director Mark Driscoll, saying it was for personal reasons.

Driscoll met Monday with members of the search committee to review the situation.

“Right now, Mark is just gathering feedback from the various people who interviewed Jen Warden last week,” said Gary Ozzello, the CSU senior associate athletic director for media relations and a member of the search committee. He said Driscoll’s decision would “come down to whether or not to hire Jen or extend the search. … We hope to have a decision in the next 24 hours.”

Warden played at Denver Christian High School and at CU before getting into coaching as an assistant for the Buffs under Ceal Barry. Warden withdrew her name from consideration at CU when she was the first coach mentioned as a possible replacement for Barry in March, but has said she’s very interested in the CSU job.

Chris Denker resigned last month after three years as coach of the Rams.
