Adams State won the men’s and women’s Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference outdoor track and field championships Tuesday in record fashion at Rex Stadium in Alamosa.

The women won with an RMAC-record 263 points, 63 more than second-place Nebraska-Kearney, while the men won with a conference-record 250 points, 52 1/2 more than Fort Hays State.

Adams State swept the women’s 100 and 200 on Tuesday, and senior Virginia Coindreau won the 800 and 1,500.

Grizzlies junior Chris Moulinet won the 110 and 400 hurdles to lead the men’s squad, while teammate Charles Allgood won the 100. Moulinet and Allgood also ran on the winning 1,600 relay team.

Adams State’s TiaNiecia Mosley was named female athlete of the meet. Mosley won the 100 and 400 hurdles, was the third leg on the winning 400 relay team and was third in the long jump. Grizzlies coach Damon Martin was named the RMAC coach of the year.

Mines’ Jared Peacock, who won the 400, and Adam State’s Celedonio Rodriguez, who won the 5,000, were selected RMAC co-nominees for regional athlete of the year.

The NCAA Division II championships are May 26-28 in Abilene, Texas.

Kellogg named Fort Lewis women’s basketball coach

Mark Kellogg was named women’s basketball coach at Fort Lewis. Kellogg, 29, spent the past four seasons as an assistant Montana State.

Kellogg helped guide the Bobcats to two Big Sky Conference championships and a bid to the WNIT.

Wyoming men’s basketball team has signed two junior college transfers to letters of intent. Forward-center Daaron Brown redshirted last season because of a back injury at Compton (Calif.) Community College, but averaged nine points and 5.8 rebounds as a freshman.

Point guard Brad Jones is out of Arkansas-Fort Smith CC, where he averaged 10.7 points and 6.5 assists last season as a freshman.

Enberg to speak at lunch

Longtime broadcaster Dick Enberg is speaking Thursday at the Denver Forum’s monthly luncheon. Enberg will be discussing his career and his newly released book “Oh My!”.
