The following fishing and stocking report is produced by the Colorado Division of Wildlife. For further information, call 303-291-7534.

Denver Metro

Arvada Reservoir|Stocked again with trout last week and fishing for them remains very good using Power Bait, night crawlers or salmon eggs.

Aurora Reservoir|Fishing for trout has been fair to good from shore using salmon eggs and Power Bait.

Barr Lake|Trout are being caught on live minnows and Power Bait.

Bear Creek|Flow is 109 cubic feet per second (CFS) and fishing has been fair to good for smaller rainbow trout.

Bear Creek Reservoir|Fishing for trout has been fair. Most are being caught on rainbow or orange Power Bait.

Berkeley Lake|Stocked last week and fishing for them is good using Power Bait, Nitro Bait, small night crawlers or live minnows beneath a bobber.

Centennial Park Lake|Stocked last week. Anglers are catching rainbow trout on Tasmanian Devils, live minnows and pink Power Bait.

Chatfield Ponds|A good bass is caught now and again but fishing remains slow.

Chatfield Reservoir|Fishing for walleyes and bass has slowed a bit, but anglers are still catching a few on live minnows or leeches.

Cherry Creek Reservoir|Stocked with rainbow trout last week and fishing for them is good with worms, salmon eggs or Power Bait.

Clear Creek (above Colorado 119)|Use small midge patterns or Beadhead Prince Nymphs, Pheasant Tails, Adams and Blue Winged Olives.

Clear Lake|Power Bait and Nitro Bait work best.

Evergreen Lake|Fishing for stocked rainbow trout is slow. Try using small night crawlers, salmon eggs or a fly and a bubble.

Georgetown Lake|Fishing for trout has been good with fish of up to 14 inches being caught on Power Bait and salmon eggs.

Gross Reservoir|Shorecasters have been having fair success on trout up to 18 inches using Kastmasters, Dardevles and Tasmanian Devils.

Jim Baker Reservoir|A good lake for catching small perch on ultralight tackle baited with a small night crawler or Gulp Grub.

Main Lake|Bass fishing is slow but should pick up after they finish spawning.

Quincy Reservoir|Trout fishing has been fair to good for anglers using Beadhead Prince Nymphs, Pheasant Tails or olive and brown midge patterns.

Rocky Mountain Lake|Stocked with rainbow trout last week; fishing for them should be good using Power Bait, Nitro Bait, small night crawlers and salmon eggs.

Sloan’s Lake|Most of the fish are carp, with a few hard-to-find crappie. Try live minnows below a bobber in weedy areas about 3 feet deep.

Smith Reservoir|Bass are spawning and fishing for them is tough. Your best bet is sight- casting purple plastic worms or dark colored tube jigs at fish in the shallows and retrieve very slowly.

South Platte River (Waterton Canyon)|Dry fly fishermen are doing well far up the canyon with Blue Wing Olives, Adams and Pale Morning Duns.

Standley Lake|So far, anglers have been doing well on stocker trout left over from last year. Water temperature is in the low 50s, still a little cool for wipers and crappie to be very active.

Washington Park Lakes|Crappie have been biting well on small tube jigs tipped with a minnow.

Webster Lake|Best baits for trout are Power Bait and salmon eggs.

Northeast

Barker Reservoir|Stocked with rainbow trout last week and fishing for them is good once the sun hits the water.

Bellaire Lake|Trout fishing is good with Power Bait, salmon eggs and Nitro Bait.

Big Creek Lakes|Anglers are still catching fish through the ice on small jigs sweetened with mealworms.

Big Thompson Ponds|Fishing for bass is fair. Several anglers have reported catching largemouths on small spinner baits and buzzbaits, but most have been below keeper size.

Big Thompson River|Flow is up to 150 CFS through the canyon, water is murky and fishing is slow.

Boedecker Reservoir|Fishing remains slow.

Boulder Reservoir|Fishing is fair to good. Anglers had been catching walleyes, mostly with minnows or black and chartreuse Twister tails, and trout on worms and Power Bait.

Boyd Lake|Lake is full, recently stocked and anglers have been catching trout of up to 14 inches.

Carter Reservoir|Trout fishing remains good with anglers doing best slow-trolling along the west side.

Chambers Lake|Ice cannot be considered safe any more. Fishing is usually excellent immediately after ice-out.

Cowdrey Lake|Fishing for trout is fair to good with bait and some action on Tasmanian Devils, Thomas Buoyants and Devledogs trolled about 4 feet deep at mid-lake.

Douglas Reservoir|Fishing is good for recently stocked trout with Power Bait, night crawlers and Fireballs just south of the boat ramp and off the dam face.

Dowdy Lake (Red Feather)|Fishing is good for trout using Thomas Buoyants, Little Cleos and Cyclones.

Dumont Lake|Iced up and inaccessible.

East Delaney Lake|Trout have moved out of the shallows back into deeper water where boaters are having better luck than shorecasters.

Estes Lake|Fishing for trout has been fair to good since the lake was stocked with rainbows recently.

Flatiron Reservoir|Use night crawlers or orange Power Bait and salmon eggs floated off the bottom.

Hohnholz Lakes|Lake No. 2 was stocked with catchable rainbows last week and will produce good catches for bait fishermen using Power Bait, Fireballs and night crawlers.

Horsetooth Reservoir|Walleye fishing is slowly picking up as the water temperature rises.

Jackson Reservoir|Wiper action is highly weather dependent, now slow to fair at the inlet and off the dam.

Joe Wright Reservoir|Ice fishing for trout and grayling has just about come to an end. Ice is rotting and unsafe.

Jumbo Reservoir|Jumbo Reservoir and Annex have been stocked with trout and fishing for them remains fair with night crawlers or Power Bait.

Lake John|Use Gitzits, Thomas Buoyants, Kastmasters, Little Cleos and any good crayfish imitation.

Laramie River at Hohnholz State Wildlife Area|Anglers have caught brown trout of up to 18 inches on Panther Martins, Blue Fox, Vibrax and Roostertails.

Lonetree Reservoir|The reservoir is full, water remains cool and fishing will remain slow until the weather warms.

Lon Hagler Reservoir|Fishing for stocked trout remains good using Power Bait, Nitro Bait or night crawlers.

Lost Lake (at Chambers)|Beginning to show some open water, barely enough to fish, and the remaining ice is unsafe.

North Delaney Lake|Fish have moved out to deeper water in anticipation of the Damselfly hatch. Recent fishing has been fair to good from boats, poor from shore.

North Fork of the North Platte River|Running high and discolored, still fishable with spinners and spoons, not much good for flies.

North Michigan Lake|Stream below the lake is clear and producing some nice trout on Halfbacks, Hornbergs and Stoneflies.

North Park Streams|The Illinois River is flowing at 86 CFS, high but fishable with spoons and spinners.

North Platte River|Flowing at 891 CFS at Northgate and off-color. It is difficult to fish during runoff but determined anglers can catch some big browns and rainbows on streamers and Woolly Buggers fished close to the banks in holding water.

North Sterling Reservoir|Fishing remains slow though anglers are starting to catch a few walleyes, catfish and trout.

Parvin Lake (Red Feather)|Fishing is fair to good using Kastmasters, Tasmanian Devils and Fiord spoons.

Pinewood Reservoir|Fishing has been slow for trout. Tiger muskies continue to be seen cruising the shoreline but are tough to entice.

Poudre River|Flows average 110 CFS through the canyon, and fishing has been good using Beadhead Hare’s Ear, Beadhead Prince and Flashabou Olive nymphs.

Prewitt Reservoir|Fishing for wipers has been good around the inlet.

Seeley Lake|Trout fishing is good with Power Bait and Fireballs.

Seymour Reservoir|Lake was stocked with catchable-sized rainbow trout last week and fishing for them has been very good with night crawlers, Power Bait and Nitro Bait.

Simpson Ponds|Anglers have been catching small bass on spinnerbaits, mostly in the back pond.

Slack Weiss Reservoir|Trout fishing is slow.

South Delaney Lake|Fish have moved into deeper water. The best fishing is usually along the west side, off the rock outcrops, using Tasmanian Devils, Z-Rays and Thomas Buoyants.

St. Vrain River|Flow averages 150 CFS through the canyon and 544 CFS at the mouth of the canyon.

Union Reservoir (Calkins)|Fishing for trout has been good and wiper action should resume with the return of warmer weather.

Watson Lake|Smallmouth bass have started biting on crankbaits and plastic worms and spinnerbaits.

Wellington Reservoir No. 4|Anglers can catch catfish on stinkbaits.

West Lake (Red Feather)|Fishing has been good with small Kastmasters and Thomas Buoyants on the east and south sides.

Northwest

Blue River (below Green Mountain Reservoir)|Fishing remains good all the way from the tailwater to the confluence with the Colorado River.

Blue River (Dillon to Green Mountain Reservoir)|Fishing at the inlet to Green Mountain Reservoir has been great using egg patterns, San Juan worms and No. 16 beadheads.

Colorado River (below Parshall)|River remains clear and continues to fish well.

Colorado River (Glenwood to Rifle)|The river is currently flowing at 3,160 CFS in Glenwood Springs with heavy Caddis hatches peaking daily from noon to 4 p.m.

Colorado River (near Granby)|Trout fishing remains good using Buckskins, Copper Johns and egg patterns.

Crystal River|Attractor nymph patterns fished on the bottom are producing fish.

Fryingpan River|The river is clear with slightly increased flows up to 107 CFS. Heavy Blue Wing Olive hatches have accompanied overcast weather and Mysis Shrimp are pouring out of the dam because of higher releases.

Granby Reservoir|Lake trout fishing is good trolling spinning/spoon lures, jigging with tube jigs or bait fishing with shiners or suckers.

Grand Lake|Brown trout have been running in and around the channel between Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Reservoir, hitting on Rapalas and Kastmasters.

Rifle Gap Reservoir|Fishing has been excellent with trout hitting on Rapalas, small spinners, worms, salmon eggs and Power Bait.

Roaring Fork River|Red hot with heavy caddis hatches beginning midday from Catherines Store in Carbondale down to Glenwood Springs.

Shadow Mountain Reservoir|Trout can be caught on small jigs sweetened with mealworms or conventional bait rigs with night crawlers, waxworms or salmon eggs.

Stagecoach Reservoir|Fishing is excellent for pike using Triple Clickers, black and white Dardevles, Black Fury spinners or dead minnows.

Steamboat Lake|Fishing is very good immediately after ice-off using Woolly Buggers other large nymph patterns, jigs or bait.

Williams Fork River|Main hatches remain Blue Wing Olives and midges. Use BWOs, Blue Duns, Zebra Midges, Serendipity nymphs and egg patterns.

Southeast

Adobe Creek Reservoir (Blue Lake)|Spring fishing for catfish has been good, with large blue and channel catfish being caught.

Anticline Lake|The lake is stocked early every year and fishing for trout should be good.

Arkansas River No. 3 (through Pueblo)|Stocked last week, which should make for excellent fishing.

Arkansas River (Buena Vista to Salida)|The river is clear, running at about 250 CFS and the caddis hatch is going strong from Salida to Buena Vista.

Arkansas River (Leadville to Buena Vista)|Blue Wing Olives continue to take center stage.

Arkansas River (Salida to Cañon City)|The caddis hatch is moving upstream from this stretch but fishing is still highly productive.

Beckwith Reservoir|Lake level is high but fishing is slow for all species.

Bonny Reservoir|A few catfish have been taken but fishing for crappie and walleyes remains slow.

Brush Hollow Reservoir|Fishing for trout is good while the water stays cool and bass, walleyes and crappie are becoming more active.

Clear Creek Reservoir|Fishing is fair for rainbows of up to 16 inches.

Cottonwood Lake|Fishing is good for rainbows and browns using Power Bait and salmon eggs.

Daigre Reservoir|Fishing is good for recently stocked rainbow trout.

DeWeese Reservoir|Reservoir is full, stocked with trout and fishing is good.

Elevenmile Reservoir|Shorecasters do best at Witcher’s Cove, Howbert Point, North Shore, Rocking Chair and Roger’s Mountain.

Fountain Lake|Fishing is usually very good.

Hale and Hopper Ponds|The Hale Ponds were stocked with trout last week and fishing for them should be good with Power Bait, salmon eggs or worms.

Hayden Meadows Reservoir|Anglers continue to enjoy very good dry fly fishing using Blue Duns or Blue Wing Olives.

Horseshoe Reservoir|Trout fishing should stay good until late May or early June when the action switches to warm-water species such as bass, saugers, tiger muskies and catfish.

Jefferson Lake|Heavily stocked with 10-inch catchable rainbow trout and occasionally yields a larger holdover rainbow or brook trout.

John Martin Reservoir|Some decent wipers have been caught.

Martin Lake|Pike are biting well though few anglers seem to be going after them.

Monument Reservoir|Stocked with rainbow trout last week and fishing for them should be good with all methods.

Nee Gronda Reservoir|Wiper fishing is beginning to improve.

Nee Noshe Reservoir|Has excellent populations of crappie and catfish and good numbers of saugeyes, wipers and white bass.

North Lake|Stocked with trout last week and fishing for them should be good.

Pueblo Reservoir|Walleyes are starting to bite on the deeper flats in 18 to 25 feet of water.

Runyon Lake|Trout fishing is very good.

San Isabel Lake|Lake is 90 percent ice-free and trout fishing is very good.

Skaguay Reservoir|Ice is going fast.

South Platte River (between Spinney and Elevenmile)|Fishing remains good with rainbows and cutthroats feeding aggressively on midges and Blue Wing Olives.

Spinney Mountain Reservoir|Trout fishing is excellent for boaters and very good for shorecasters.

Trinidad Reservoir|Fishing for trout remains good with several 16- to 18-inchers caught on worms and Power Bait.

Turks Pond|This 55-acre lake is bulging with wipers, saugeyes, channel catfish, largemouth bass, bluegills and rainbow trout.

Twin Lakes|Fishing is good for lake trout using small jigs with sucker meat.

Twin Lakes Forebay|Very slow for rainbows.

Two Buttes Reservoir|Trout fishing has been good and should remain so until late spring, when warm-water species become more active.

Wahatoya Reservoir|This reservoir has been stocked with catchable-sized trout and fishing for them should be good.

Southwest

Animas River|Flowing very high and blown out by runoff, which may last into June.

Blue Mesa Reservoir|Most lake trout are still deep, though some are beginning to move onto the flats and can be caught in 30 to 50 feet of water early in the morning.

Conejos River|The river from Mogote to Horca is free of ice and fishing access is good.

Dolores River (upper)|Flowing high and blown out by runoff.

Echo Canyon Reservoir|Fishing has been very good for trout, catfish and bass.

Gunnison River (below Crystal Dam)|The East Portal of the Gunnison is fishing very well.

Gunnison River (through the canyon)|Caddis have been coming off and anglers have been scoring with No. 14 Caddis Pupa.

Gunnison River (upper from Almont to Blue Mesa)|Floaters do well nymphing.

Jackson Gulch Reservoir|Fishing for recently stocked rainbow trout is good using Power Bait, night crawlers or salmon eggs.

Lemon Reservoir|Fishing is fair on the north end for rainbows and browns.

McPhee Reservoir|Fishing for bass is fair but improving.

Mountain Home Reservoir|Fishing has been good for rainbow trout of 10 to 16 inches using Power Bait, salmon eggs and spinners.

Navajo Reservoir|Catfish are biting on suckers and northern pike on cut bait.

Taylor Reservoir|Anglers are doing well on rainbow trout.
