Rocky Mountain National Park: Almost every corner of the park is special in some way. Its snowy peaks in winter, roaring streams in spring, alpine flowers in summer, and bugling elk in the fall make this place a dramatic reminder of the benefit of protecting important land and water resources for future generations.
Boulder’s bike paths: Thank goodness for the hardworking, clear-thinking people in Boulder and other Colorado cities who help make bike, bus, and pedestrian transit so accessible. Boulder’s system of bike paths, in particular, makes it possible for me to travel by bike – to work and on errands around town every bit as fast as driving, and it’s much more fun. That, plus a good bus system and concentrated growth along transit corridors, lets me avoid the drag of traffic congestion, parking tickets and contributing to air pollution.
Gunnison River: The river is a treasure from its free-flowing headwaters near Crested Butte to gorgeous canyons farther downstream. Though we all need some water to drink and to live, it’s irreplaceable in its natural state.
The Capitol building: The state Capitol “dome” is a work of art where our legislators work long hours. It’s all open to the public to see and participate.
Etown’s live music at the Boulder Theater: In the past couple of years, I’ve made room for listening to more live music. Etown, the regular radio show recorded at the Boulder Theater, does a superb job of introducing me to great musical artists I otherwise might miss.
