Getting your player ready...

Attention, procrastinators: It’s not too late to register for the Bolder Boulder 10K, so you can’t use that excuse. The 27th running of the Memorial Day classic at the foot of the Flatirons is set to go off at 7 a.m. Monday. Race co-founder Frank Shorter, the 1972 Olympic marathon champion, will be the official starter. Race organizers expect about 48,000 entrants. Runners and walkers will be organized into more than 70 waves, with the final waves scheduled to launch after 9 a.m.

Runners can register today at official Bolder Boulder stores. One is located at FlatIron Crossing mall, the other at 1955 Broadway St. in Boulder, just off the Pearl Street Mall. The FlatIron store closes at 9 p.m., and the Boulder store closes at 7 p.m.

Runners can register Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bolder Boulder Sports Exhibit on the courthouse lawn in Boulder, just west of 14th Street on the Pearl Street Mall. Through Sunday, registration costs $33 (race only), $41 (short-sleeve T-shirt) and $46 (long-sleeve shirt). Race-day registration, with an additional $5 procrastination fee, will take place near the start at 30th and Iris. For more information, go to the race website (www.bolderboulder.com) or call 303-444-RACE.

AROUND TOWN

The Rockies still aren’t much to look at, but the National League’s finest will come to Coors Field for a 6:05 p.m. game on Memorial Day with a fireworks show to follow. The St. Louis Cardinals are scheduled to throw seven-game winner Mark Mulder against the Rockies’ Jamey Wright (2-5).

THE COUCH

On: Sunday is America’s big day for auto racing. The 89th Indianapolis 500, the world’s premier open-wheel race, is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on KMGH-7. Then the Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR’s longest and only day-night event, is pegged to start at 3 p.m. on Fox.

Off: One day before the Bolder Boulder beckons your body bright and early Monday morning, the Colorado Crush needs your vocal cords when it takes on the San Jose SaberCats in the first round of the Arena Football League playoffs at 1:30 p.m. at the Pepsi Center. If that’s not enough physical activity for you, you can avoid the cost of parking and walk from as far away as your legs will carry you.

WEAK IN REVIEW

1. Reds pitcher Danny Graves doing his best Jake Plummer imitation when heckled by a fan. (The Reds promptly said bye-bye, birdie.)

2. Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano supposedly suffering elbow soreness because of a five-hour-a-day Internet addiction. Zambrano swore this week he cut his cybertime to two hours a day.

3. Cubs pitcher Mike Remlinger going on the 15-day disabled list after getting a finger caught between two clubhouse recliners.

WHAT WE’D LIKE TO SEE

1. The Dolphins just say no to Ricky Williams.

2. Danica Patrick become the first woman to win the Indianapolis 500.

3. Jerry Rice teach Ashley Lelie and Darius Watts a thing or two about scoring inside the red zone.
