Iowa Western rallied from a six-run deficit in the seventh inning to beat South Mountain (Ariz.) 13-12 in an elimination game at the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction. Iowa Western (2-1) scored four runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to offset six errors.
Meanwhile, Texarkana (Texas) was sent home with a 10-6 loss to St. Petersburg (Fla.).
In the nightcap, Wallace State (Ala.) improved its record to 3-0 with a 9-3 victory over Potomac State (W.Va.) in a battle of unbeatens. Right fielder Daine Solomon went 4-for-4 with two home runs for Wallace State, which raced to a 7-0 lead after two innings.
