Derek Tolan and Michael Baird combined Tuesday to shoot a 7-under-par 65 and were tied for the lead with Jim Grady and Kenny Coakley after the first round of the Colorado Golf Association’s Two-Man Team Championship at Pine Creek Golf Club in Colorado Springs.
Tolan, who qualified for the 2002 U.S. Open as a 16-year-old amateur while he was at ThunderRidge High School, plays for the University of Colorado.
Three teams were three strokes back: Bob Schuler/Brian Woody, Sean McCaskey/Billy Post, and Danny Hahn and John A. Scott. The final round is today.
