The conference table at Pure is steeped in knowledge. That’s because it spent years in a New York library before the firm found it on eBay.
“We’ll spend money on technology and people – that’s it,” said Gregg Bergan, creative partner at the advertising agency. “We literally pick up furniture off the street.”
Bergan and partner Dan Igoe bring that same philosophy to the Metro Denver Economic Development Corp.’s new branding campaign, which promotes Denver’s educated workforce and active lifestyle with the slogan “Energetic Bodies. Energetic Minds.”
“The thing that became apparent to us is that this metro area is a lot like a church,” said Bergan. “It’s not about the building – it’s about the people. These are glass half-full people. They figure out ways to get things done.”
Bergan and Igoe bring 40 years of collective experience to the project. Bergan was creative director at McClain Finlon, and Igoe was president of Barnhart/ CMI before they started their own firm in late 2003.
Both have worked on tourism and economic development campaigns in addition to handling major corporate clients such as IBM and Microsoft.
With 15 employees, the firm has already outgrown its first office and is moving into a former warehouse east of Coors Field. Pure also has a three-person office in Cheyenne that handles the national marketing campaign for Wyoming Travel & Tourism. Other Pure clients include McDonald Automotive Group, Pea berry Coffee and Encana Oil & Gas.
