A Pueblo man fatally shot his estranged wife and wounded a man in the couple’s home early Wednesday, police said.

Police are looking for Duane Manzanares, 38, after the 4 a.m. shooting of his 30-year-old wife, who had three children, Pueblo police Capt. John Barger said.

The identities of the woman and 19-year-old man who was shot were not released. The wounded man was treated Wednesday at Parkview Medical Center, Barger said.

Authorities are not commenting on why the wounded man was in the house or what sparked the shooting. Barger said that Manzanares recently separated from his wife.

State criminal records show that Manzanares has been arrested numerous times dating to 1986. He has been arrested on charges of domestic violence, assault, menacing with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, fighting, marijuana possession and burglary.

In 1993 and 1994, Manzanares served jail sentences for two assault cases. In 1995, he was convicted of possession of a gun and served jail time.

That same year, he was sentenced to two years in prison for bail bond violations. In 2002, he was sentenced to six months in jail for drunken driving.

“We’ve dealt with him numerous times over the years,” Barger said.
