Rajshad Anderson and Roman Moniak have signed national letters of intent to play for the Adams State men’s basketball team.

Anderson, a 6-foot-3, 193- pound guard, comes to the NCAA Division II Alamosa school from Lewisville, Texas, and North Lake College. He averaged 11 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals during the 2004-05 season, helping to lead his team to a conference championship.

Moniak, a 6-5, 220-pound wing and post player, joins the Grizzlies from Sacramento, Calif., via San Joaquin Delta College.

Moniak helped guide the team from the school in Stockton, Calif., to 30-2 record. It claimed the league title and advanced to the state’s final four.

Also, the Adams State women’s team signed three players.

Sarah Lamb is a Creede High School graduate and three- time Southern Peaks League MVP. She also was a first-team all-state selection in Class 1A by The Denver Post.

Isil Ozkan, a 5-8 point guard from Istanbul, Turkey, averaged 9.4 points and three rebounds for Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. The Plainswomen went 20-13 in 2004-05, with Ozkan averaging 2.8 assists and 1.6 steals.

Nicole Tatum, a 5-10 forward from Rio Rancho, N.M., was named the Albuquerque player of the year by the Albuquerque Tribune newspaper in 2004-05 and earned district player of the year and East-West All- Star Game MVP honors after leading the Rams to a 25-4 record and a district title.

Three area golfers share qualifying lead at 69

James Kurtenbach of Englewood, Dustin Mills of Arvada and Patrick Grady of Broomfield each shot 69 to share the lead in the 36-hole U.S. Amateur Public Links qualifying at Mira Vista Golf Course.

The 120-player field was cut to 63 for the final round today.

Three players will qualify to play in the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship tournament July 11-16 at Shaker Run Golf Club in Lebanon, Ohio.

CSU-Pueblo announces volleyball schedule

The Colorado State-Pueblo volleyball team will play in tournaments Aug. 26-27 in San Angelo, Texas, and Sept. 2-3 in Golden before its home opener Sept. 9 against Mesa State.

After meeting Mesa State, the ThunderWolves’ first homestand continues against Western State (Sept. 10), CU-Colorado Springs (Sept. 13) and Fort Lewis (Sept. 17).

The annual Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament is Nov. 11-12.
