Summer is the season for outdoor film series, and here are five you might want to check out:

Film on the Rocks 2005: The weekly outdoor film series offers movies and live bands every Tuesday through Aug. 16 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison. The sixth annual series opens Tuesday with “Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Opie Gone Bad and The Fong Jones Band perform before the movie. The film series is hosted by comedian Chuck Roy. Gates open at 6 p.m. Bands perform at 6:15 and 7:30 p.m. The movie begins at approximately 8:45 p.m. Admission is $10, $8 in advance. A family four-pack is also available. Flicks on the ‘Fax: The free weekly outdoor film series offers movies every Saturday through Aug. 13 at Fletcher Plaza, 9898 E. Colfax Ave. in Aurora. The series opens Saturday with “Shark Tales.” Films begin at dusk. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket. A variety of pre-show activities is offered, including crafts and trivia games beginning at 8 p.m. Refreshments are sold on site. No alcohol or dogs allowed. Call 303-326-8804.

Movies in the Park: The free film series continues Saturday with “DodgeBall” at the Broomfield Commons Park, on Sheridan Boulevard just north of West 128th Avenue. The series continues July 16 with “E.T.” and wraps up July 30 with “Spider-Man 2.” The park opens at 7:30 p.m.; movies begin at dusk. Bring blankets and lawn chairs. Stapleton Under the Stars: The free Summer Film Series opens today with “The Incredibles” at Founders’ Green, East 29th Avenue Town Center. Films continues through Sept. 2. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. with pre-movie entertainment at 8 p.m. Movies begin at dusk. Picnics and blankets are welcome. The next film is “Shrek” on July 8. Visit stapletonunderthestars.com.

Starlight Summer Movie Series: The free monthly outdoor movie series continues July 9 with “Shrek II” on Third Street between Wilcox and Perry streets in Castle Rock. In case of inclement weather, films will be shown in Fire Station 151, 300 Perry St. Street performers and live music are offered at 6:30 p.m. Lawn chairs are welcome. Remaining film dates include Aug. 6 (“City Slickers III”) and Sept. 10 (“Ghostbusters”). Call 303-660-1380.
