Aurora – A woman allegedly shot by her husband minutes after police officers investigating a domestic disturbance left their Aurora home has died.
Lorraine Johnson, 48, died Tuesday at the Medical Center of Aurora surrounded by family.
She was shot Sunday evening at her Aurora home, 1585 S. Ironton St.
Her husband, Eddie Johnson, 45, was arrested immediately after the shooting. He could now face charges of first-degree murder, police said. Formal charges are expected Friday.
Police were called to the home about 6:20 p.m. Sunday on a report of a fight. Officers left after talking for about 30 minutes with the couple, who said they could work out their dispute. Police said they had no probable cause to arrest Eddie Johnson at that time because they had no evidence a crime had been committed.
Officers were called back to the home on a report of a shooting about 20 minutes later.
