Two people were shot inside a car at an Aurora intersection Monday night and later died, police said.
The victims had been shot multiple times, witnesses said. And the force of the bullets apparently knocked the driver into the back seat.
Police were called to the area of East Idaho Place and South Dayton Street about 9 p.m. on a report of shots being fired, said police spokeswoman Kathleen Walsh.
When officers arrived, they found the victims – a man and a woman – inside a vehicle at that intersection, both suffering from gunshot wounds, she said.
The victims were taken to a local hospital, where both died, Walsh said.
She said police were looking for a suspect vehicle that is a light-colored Oldsmobile or Buick with a dark top.
John Craft, 22, who lives near the intersection, said he was just coming home about 8:55 p.m. when he heard six gunshots and, after a short pause, six more.
Craft said he ran to see what happened and found about five witnesses to the shooting gathered around a silver Chevrolet Monte Carlo with the victims inside.
Both appeared to be 18 to 20 years old, he said.
The force of the bullets knocked the man into the back seat of the Monte Carlo, Craft said.
The woman was still alive, but “she was on her way to dying,” he said.
A late-model tan Buick Riviera-type car was seen leaving the area following the shooting, according to Craft.
