Fort Collins – An Amber Alert that was issued earlier this evening for four young children from Fort Collins has been cancelled. The children were found safe at a home in Greeley.

The man who took the children, 25-year-old Jeronimo Santiago Romero, is in custody.

Police say Romero was watching the children, who are between the ages of 7 and 11, for his ex- girlfriend’s sister. He failed to return them at the designated time and place, even after his ex-girlfriend contacted him. Since Romero has a criminal record, police believed the children were in danger.

The Amber Alert was issued around 7:30 p.m. and cancelled just before 9 p.m.
