Eagle River perspective

According to the old adage, if you want to know something about a place, ask someone who lives there.

So it is with Ken Neubecker and the Eagle River. An Eagle Valley resident since 1979, Neubecker has used his training in geology, biology and work as a naturalist to provide insight into a variety of environmental endeavors: Founder of the Eagle River Watershed Council; past executive director of the Eagle River Environment and Business Alliance; member of the Colorado River Headwaters Forum; member of the Eagle County Planning Commission and West Slope organizer for Colorado Trout Unlimited.

An avid fly-fisher, he’s equally qualified to speak to trout prospects on the Eagle River, which will be a large part of his 7 p.m. Tuesday talk to the Wild Trout Chapter of TU at the REI Flagship Store, 1416 Platte Street.

Neubecker also will address the potential effects of proposed trans-basin diversions from the river. For further information, call 303-302-1619.
