The Cascades famous for location, food
Trivia time: What famous Colorado dining room can claim connections to both Jack Nicholson and rubber-faced Jim Carrey?
Answer: The Cascades at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. The venerable old dame of Colorado lodges inspired spooky Stephen King to pen “The Shining,” which was carried on the big screen by a very bothered Jack. The Stanley also anchored hotel scenes from the classic Carrey flick “Dumb & Dumber.” The Cascades does not pander to its starry status, though. The food does the job without any help from the actors. Lots of tasty seafood and a menu tinged with Asian influences make for a memorable feed. A heavy wine list and barrels of fine brew can work to blur the memory. Take a seat on the new terrace – flanked with tinkling waterfalls – and get your romance on under the stars or the epic views into Rocky Mountain National Park.
