Trail running slide show
Colorado trail running legend Buzz Burrell will present a multimedia show on trail running at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the new Runners Roost store in Lakewood (437 S. Wadsworth, Unit B).
The 53-year-old Boulder contractor has set numerous trail running records the past 10 years, including speed record on the Colorado Trail and John Muir Trail in California. (Both have since been broken.)
This summer he and Boulder’s Peter Bakwin plan to attempt speed ascents of three Pacific Northwest mountains – Mount Rainier, Mount Adams and Mount Hood – all in less than 12 hours. This year, Burrell and Bakwin covered a 62-mile trekking route in Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park – a route that typically takes hikers several days – in just 18 hours.
Burrell, the manager of the LaSportiva/GoLite Mountain Running Team, is also planning to do a speed ascent of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with a group of friends next winter.
