Not surprisingly, nearly all the 900 guests did as requested and dressed in shades of crimson and scarlet for the American Heart Association’s inaugural Go Red for Women Luncheon.

Loretta Collier and Scottie Iverson took it to the next level, though, by arriving at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in a fire-engine red Mercedes. Which shouldn’t have come as any great surprise, either, since Collier is the director of Murray Motors’ VIP Amenity Program and is always reaching into her bag of tricks to promote the company’s product.

Lt. Gov. Jane Norton was the honorary chair of this information-packed event that started at 9 a.m. with health screenings, interactive exhibits and booths featuring news of the latest trends in women’s health. A silent auction and luncheon address by Dr. C. Noel Bairey Merz from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles also was included.

The Denver Film Society has hired Arpie Chucovich as its new development director; previously, she was with the Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver … Landscape architect and urban designer Carol Mirenda has taken back her maiden name and is now Carol McClanahan, doing business as Land by Design … Peter Aeby, who retired several years ago as managing director of the Brown Palace Hotel, is putting his travel industry know-how to work as a consultant for Cherry Creek Travel & Cruises. He and wife Margrit have moved back to Denver after getting their fill of rest and relaxation in the mountains (they built a home in the Dillon area after Peter’s retirement).

Denver Lyric Opera Guild marks its 40th anniversary at a garden party and ice cream social that begins at 1 p.m. July 11 at the Franciscan Event Center in Englewood. President Jolayne Lowell says the $10 admission includes music by the barbershop quartet Nexus. Call Sarita List, 303-771-4289 … It costs $1,250 per player to take part in the Legends Golf Tournament on July 20 at Sanctuary, but the amenities at this benefit for Volunteers of America and the Colorado Rockies Charity Fund are exceptional. In addition to the usual range balls and on-course refreshments, the fee includes lunch, a reception and dinner. Players also are invited to dine at Denver ChopHouse the night before with Baseball Hall of Famer Bob “Rapid Robert” Feller. Chaircouple Susan and Leo Kiely say Feller will be at the tournament to play nine holes with both of the foursomes who sign on as $15,000 sponsors. Denise Robert is taking reservations at 303-368-5208 … Johnny Mathis headlines the Colorado Symphony Orchestra’s Fall Gala, set for Oct. 1. Call 303-308-2495.
