The New York hotel clerk Russell Crowe allegedly assaulted with a telephone is expected to file a lawsuit this week against the actor, the New York Daily News reported.
The suit will charge that Crowe hurled a ceramic bowl at Mercer Hotel clerk Nestor “Josh” Estrada on June 6 after throwing a phone and hitting the 28-year-old Brooklyn man in the face. When the bowl shattered against a wall, witnesses said, Crowe took a deep bow and assumed a karate stance.
The lawsuit will seek unspecified punitive and compensatory damages. Estrada suffered a 1-inch cut to his right cheek. Crowe, 41, faces felonious assault and criminal possession of a weapon charges.
Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter was ordered into a three-month alcohol treatment program after pleading guilty to drunken driving. Carter, 25, entered the plea Tuesday in Orange County (Calif.) Superior Court. Carter must pay $1,200 in fines, was placed on three years’ informal probation, and his driving privileges are restricted for 90 days.
Avril Lavigne and fellow Canadian rock musician Deryck Whibley are engaged, Lavigne’s spokeswoman said. Whibley, 25, lead singer and guitarist of the band Sum 41, proposed to Lavigne, 20, last weekend, according to published reports.
Evicted “American Idol” contestant Corey Clark called his arrest in a Sacramento, Calif., hotel a food fight gone bad.
“My dancers, crew, management and I were all involved in a food fight that lasted only a few minutes,” Clark said in a statement released by his publicist. Police disputed the account by Clark, cited on misdemeanor battery charges for allegedly injuring CDC Records company executive Laura Kathleen Troy on Saturday at the Sheraton Grand Hotel. Clark has a July 22 date in Sacramento County Superior Court.
The delayed wedding between “West Wing” star Allison Janney, 44, and her fiancé, Richard Jenik, 37, is on again. Jenik told USA Today his mother’s health has improved and the couple will marry by April.
