A Navy F-18 Hornet jet fighter, at rear, slammed into a World War II-era hangar about 12:30 p.m. Thursday when its brakes failed after landing at Buckley Air Force Base, military officials say.
The twin-engine aircraft rolled into the corner of Hangar 909, damaging the jet’s nose and canopy, base spokesman Master Sgt. Jim Randall said.
The pilot, who was not identified, was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation of possible injuries.
The Hornet is assigned to Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va.
The jet was arriving from the air station with four other planes, according to 9News. The planes were grounded as a precaution until they could be inspected.
