Aurora – The body of an elderly man was found in a Dumpster early Tuesday by a man digging for aluminum cans, police said.

The body was discovered in an alley in the 2300 block of Emporia Street. Police arrived about 9 a.m.

It was not known what caused the man’s death. There were no visible signs of trauma but police were treating the death as “suspicious,” Aurora police spokeswoman Kathleen Walsh said.

Authorities were trying to identify the victim. Results of an autopsy could be released as early as today, Walsh said.

The fully clothed body was partially covered by a blanket, with the feet protruding, Walsh said. Officials were unsure how long the body had been in the trash bin but said the trash had been picked up on Thursday.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 303-627-3100.
