Soldier dies when Humvee rolls
A soldier from the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment died in Iraq from injuries he suffered when a Humvee rolled over, the Army said Tuesday.
Staff Sgt. Jeremy A. Brown, 26, of Mabscott, W.Va., died Sunday in Mosul, Iraq.
He was assigned to the 66th Military Intelligence Company of the 3rd Armored Cavalry.
At least 57 soldiers from this post in Colorado Springs have died in Iraq.

Parker, Castle Rock share award
Parker and Castle Rock’s Joint Sales Tax Self-Collection Program has won an international award for outstanding partnerships.
The Douglas County towns recently received the International City/County Management Association’s Program Excellence Award for Outstanding Partnerships: Intergovernmental Cooperation.
The towns began the partnership in January 2003, the first home-rule municipalities in Colorado to strike such an agreement.

City offers free sprinkler checks
Free sprinkler system checks are offered in partnership with the Center for Resource Conservation to assist residents in saving water and money.
The irrigation system audits include assessments of soil types, root depth and sprinkler pressure to improve system efficiency and to create a watering schedule.

Drainage upgrades to close roads
Storm-drainage improvements will begin this month on West Eighth Place from Kipling Street to Miller Court, Kline Drive north of West Eighth Place and West Ninth Drive north of Kline.
Construction will require that area roads be closed for periods of time, with access for local traffic.
