Getting your player ready...

Who: John and Stella Welcher of Lakewood/Golden

Where: Nampula, Mozambique, East Africa

Out and About: Want to see an authentic part of Africa and are the “Survivor” type, then come to Nampula, Mozambique. You will meet some of the world’s gentlest as well as poorest people. We have reveled in the lack of needing to be “highly, effective” performers and are soaking up our Macua food recipes with our sheema. The U.S. dollar is worth 23.9 Mozambiquoan meticai and yes all life’s essentials are available, it just may take a day or two to find the local equivalent. Say, have you ever dealt with a six foot, spitting cobra!?

Travel tip: Nampula is an easy convenient two hour flight from the capital city, Maputo or it is a four day road trip north towards the equator. When in the bush be prepared to be watched as you may be one of the few foreigners children have experienced. But, whip out your camera and you have tons of people to pose for you but you MUST share them your results as their laughter peels! Orthodontists are not needed in this world of perfect teeth and beautiful smiles. Come on and live a little!
