Who: Nancy, Theresa, Susan, Audrey, Carolyn and Karen (L to R Seated on couch)
Dee and Pam (L to R Sitting on floor). Otherwise known as “Women Who Wander.”

Where: Living room at Villa Moon Star we rented for a glorious week in Soliman Bay, Mexico, an hour and a half south of the Cancun airport nestled between the quaint towns of Tulum and Akumal.

Out and about: We visited Mayan ruins including Coba, Ek Balam and Chichen Itza. We had very knowledgeable guides and learned the Mayan cultures were very different from one another. We snorkeled in the beautiful turquoise waters at Akumal, which means “place of the turtles.” We took turns dining out one night and cooking at home the next. We enjoyed seafood specials at Oscar y Lalo’s, crab cake eggs benedict at Turtle Bay Café, lobster flambé complete with a Flamingo show at Lol Ha and authentic Mayan dishes at El Bocadito. Our trip was relaxing and it was also a great learning experience.

Travel tip: When visiting the ruins, wear comfortable walking shoes. It is common to barter with artisans and vendors when making local souvenir purchases. Vacationing in Mexico in March was the perfect time of year before it becomes too hot.
