Getting your player ready...

Sure, you can get a breakfast burrito or a BLT just about anywhere in the Southwest, but there’s something to be said for ambiance. And that’s where Durango’s Brickhouse Cafe sets itself apart from the rest of the riffraff. That’s not to say the food alone isn’t worth the trip. All-day breakfast ranging from the aforementioned burritos to a variety of skillets, omelets, huevos rancheros, and biscuits and gravy will get you through those long Durango days in the saddle of the San Juans. Lunch fare includes everything from salads to sandwiches, hearty burgers and homemade soups. But it’s the Victorian architecture and cozy atmosphere of the quaint cottage on Main Avenue that will set your soul straight. Relax and unwind with a cup of iced chai tea from the coffee bar or schedule your next appointment in one of their secluded meeting rooms. Just be sure to be there before 3 p.m. because dinner isn’t an option (although catering is).

Get there — Look for the two-story brick house at 1849 Main Ave., just south of the rec center in the heart of Durango. Phone 970-247-3760 or visit www.brickhousecafe.com.
