COLDWATER: White River
The White River provides some of the best trout fishing in northwest Colorado and while other more famous streams are prone to overcrowding, this one definitely is not. Resort towns are sparse in that part of the state, fishing pressure is low and there’s plenty of public access.
WARMWATER: Various locations
Fishing for most warmwater species declines as temperatures rise, but not for catfish. Channel cats, bullheads and blues are about to start spawning and will be easier to catch. They also can be found in so many warmwater lakes and reservoirs, it’s impossible to name one hot spot. Some of the better-known catfish waters around Denver include Aurora Reservoir, Barr Lake and Chatfield Reservoir.
